The World Health Organization (WHO) is one of the specialized agencies of the United Nations (UN), dedicated to advancing public health across the globe. The primary objective of the WHO is to ensure the highest possible level of health and well-being for all people, regardless of their background or location. Founded on April 7, 1948, its mandate spans a broad spectrum of activities, from disease prevention and health promotion to the development of policies, guidelines, and strategies that guide member countries in addressing their unique health challenges.
Currently, the WHO is the largest intergovernmental health organization at the international level. Through its leadership and advocacy, it continues to shape global health policy, drive innovation in medical research, and foster crucial collaboration to build a healthier, safer world for all.
